Our mission is to honour Western Canadian dairy industry by transforming A2 grass fed cream into naturally cultured butter, made slowly and shaped by hand. With just three pure ingredients and a commitment to transparency, sustainability and flavour, we aim to create butter that respects the farmer, delights the chef and feels at home on any table that cares about what it serves. This is Terroir Artisan Butter.

Terroir began with the memory of butter that stopped the table for a moment: a salted cultured butter served with warm bread, simple enough to understand immediately and remarkable enough to remember years later. That experience became a question: why should butter this good feel so rare?
Terroir is our answer. We make naturally cultured butter in small batches using A2 grass-fed Alberta cream, giving the cream time to develop before it is churned, worked, salted, shaped, and wrapped by hand. The process is traditional, but the expression is distinctly Western Canadian: rooted in local dairy, open pasture, seasonal change, and a belief that everyday food can still be extraordinary.
The result is butter with depth, silkiness, and character. It is not made to shout. It is made to linger: on sourdough, in a sauce, over vegetables, folded into pastry, or served simply at the centre of the table.
Great butter begins with great cream. Ours comes from small-scale biodynaimc farms in the heart of Alberta's cattle country. All of our cream is A2 and grassfed.
Butter is alive in its own way, shaped by the rhythms of the seasons and the pastures that nourish the herds. In winter it takes on a paler hue and a firmer body. In spring it softens, becoming supple and almost luminous. The colours, textures, and aromas shift naturally throughout the year, each batch reflecting its terroir and the animals from which it comes.
