Terms of service
I simplified the Shopify template and adapted it for a Canadian perishable food business. You should still have a lawyer review it before publishing, especially the liability, governing law, and privacy sections.
Terms of Service
Overview
Welcome to Terroir Artisan Butter.
The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Terroir Artisan Butter. Terroir Artisan Butter operates this website and online store, including all related information, content, products, tools, and services offered through the site.
Our store is powered by Shopify, which allows us to provide our online shopping experience to you.
These Terms of Service, together with any policies referenced on our website, explain your rights and responsibilities when you visit our website, place an order, or use any of our services.
By accessing our website or purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use our website or purchase our products.
Section 1: Use of Our Website
By using this website, you confirm that you are at least the age of majority in your province, state, or place of residence, or that you are using the website with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when placing an order or creating an account. This includes your name, email address, billing information, delivery address, and payment details.
You are responsible for keeping your account information secure. You are also responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
You may not use our website or services for any unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, or unauthorized purpose.
Section 2: Our Products
Terroir Artisan Butter sells fresh, perishable food products.
We make every reasonable effort to describe and photograph our products accurately. However, product appearance may vary slightly from photos shown on our website. This may include natural variations in colour, shape, texture, packaging, or finish.
Because our butter is a handmade and perishable product, small variations may occur from batch to batch.
Product descriptions, pricing, availability, and packaging may change at any time without notice. We reserve the right to discontinue, limit, or modify any product at our discretion.
Section 3: Food Handling and Storage
Our butter must be handled and stored properly after delivery or pickup.
Unless otherwise stated, Terroir Artisan Butter should be kept refrigerated. Customers are responsible for refrigerating the product promptly after receiving it.
We are not responsible for product quality issues caused by improper storage, delayed refrigeration, missed delivery, incorrect delivery information, or leaving the product unrefrigerated after it has been received.
Please inspect your order when it arrives. If there is a concern with the product, contact us as soon as possible at hello@terroirbutter.com.
Section 4: Orders
When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your cart.
We reserve the right to accept, decline, cancel, or modify any order for any reason, including product availability, delivery limitations, suspected fraud, pricing errors, or issues with payment.
Your order is not accepted until payment has been processed and we have confirmed the order.
Please review your order carefully before submitting it. Because our products are fresh and perishable, we may not be able to cancel or change an order once it has been accepted, prepared, fulfilled, or shipped.
Section 5: Prices, Taxes, and Payment
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.
Prices, discounts, promotions, and product availability may change without notice. The price charged for your order will be the price shown at the time your order is placed, subject to any corrections for errors or inaccuracies.
Prices may not include applicable taxes, shipping charges, delivery fees, or other charges unless clearly stated.
You agree to provide complete and accurate payment information. You confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method provided and that all charges incurred by you will be honoured by your payment provider.
Section 6: Shipping, Delivery, and Pickup
Delivery and shipping timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
We are not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, weather, traffic, customs, labour disruptions, incorrect delivery information, missed deliveries, or events outside our control.
Because our products are perishable, it is your responsibility to ensure that someone is available to receive the order or that the product can be placed in a safe and temperature-appropriate location.
Once an order has been delivered to the address provided, picked up by the customer, or transferred to a shipping carrier where applicable, responsibility for the product passes to the customer.
Section 7: Returns, Refunds, and Store Credits
Because Terroir Artisan Butter is a fresh, perishable food product, we do not accept returns or exchanges.
Refunds, replacements, or store credits are not automatic. They are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, defective, or with a quality issue, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@terroirbutter.com. Please include your order number, a description of the issue, and photos if applicable.
We may offer a refund, replacement, or store credit at our discretion.
We cannot provide refunds or replacements for issues outside of our control, including missed deliveries, incorrect delivery information, improper storage after delivery, delayed refrigeration, or a change of mind after purchase.
Please review our Refund Policy for more information.
Section 8: Gift Cards, Promotions, and Discounts
Gift cards, promotional codes, discounts, and special offers may be subject to additional terms and conditions.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, cancel, or refuse any promotion, discount, or offer at any time.
Promotional codes must be used at the time of purchase and cannot be applied retroactively unless we choose to do so at our discretion.
Sale items and gift cards are non-refundable unless required by law.
Section 9: Intellectual Property

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, publish, display, sell, or use any part of our website, branding, images, or content without our prior written consent.
Nothing in these Terms gives you ownership or rights to our intellectual property.
Section 10: Third-Party Services and Links
Our website may include links to third-party websites, tools, apps, payment processors, delivery services, or other services that we do not own or control.

We may monitor, edit, or remove customer feedback at our discretion.
Section 14: Errors and Inaccuracies
Occasionally, our website may contain typographical errors, pricing errors, product availability errors, or other inaccuracies.
We reserve the right to correct any errors, update information, change pricing, cancel orders, or refuse orders at any time, including after an order has been submitted.
